Senior Certified Medical Assistant Coordinate and oversee activities of the back office and the back office Medical Assistants to ensure compassionate and professional care for patients and effective and efficient back office workflow. Duties/Responsibilities: Perform Medical Assistant duties including: rooming patients and taking vitals, answering telephone calls related to clinical questions and relaying messages to the Provider, calling patients with test results and processing prescription refill requests, as directed by the Provider, providing patient instructions, screening (UA) and other clinical tests, ordering lab work and imaging at the Providers discretion, and patient record management utilizing eClinicalWorks EMR system. Coordinate day-to-day workflow and monitor daily performance of back office Medical Assistants to make certain duties are completed accurately, efficiently, and timely ensuring compliance and achievement of departmental goals. Organize and assign duties and tasks for the back office Medical Assistants. Conduct Medical Assistant orientation and training on back office policies and procedures. Monitor patient flow and keep patients informed of delays. Identify and recommend solutions to back office Medical Assistants and office issues or problems. Ensure all phone calls into the Internal Medicine Division are being answered promptly and messages handled timely. Maintain adequate back-office supplies and submit orders monthly. Ensures all Provider and Medical Assistant tasks (jellybeans) are handled timely and efficiently. Serve as a back-up for back office Medical Assistants. Ensures faxes are being handled appropriately and effectively. Complete Prior Authorizations for both the Internal Medicine and Mental Health divisions. Maintain excellent communication and effective working relationships with patients, Providers, clinical and clerical team members for continuity of high quality patient care. Enforces all policies, procedures, protocols, directives and goals of the organization. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills: Strong customer service focus. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Teamwork oriented. Organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Good judgment. Resourcefulness in problem solving. Able to take and follow through with delegated tasks and accountability. Education/ Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of and graduation from a medical assisting course required. National Healthcareer Association certification required. 2+ years of Medical Assisting experience required. Supervisory, management or administrative experience preferred. Basic computer skills including previous work with an electronic health record (EHR).
